Oregon City law enforcement officers are investigating the theft of thousands of dollars from more than a half dozen unsuspecting car purchasers who ended up buying stolen vehicles from a fake dealership lot in the city. Despite the Better Business Bureau accreditation on the wall, the counterfeit dealership that sold cars and trucks from a lot in the city didn’t have a license, according to KATU. People who paid money for the trucks and cars later learned the vehicles had been stolen. They needed to return them to the police, leaving them both their money and the wheels they’d purchased.
DMV just weeks ago sent out a statewide broadcast warning about fake dealerships.
