The real estate potential of the Portland metro area continues to linger in the bottom half of a list of 80 American cities surveyed and reviewed in the Urban Land Institute’s 2024 Emerging Trends in Real Estate report, according to the Portland Business Journal.
The report ranks Portland at 51st among the cities based on interviews with property owners, lenders, builders, architects, developers, and others. By contrast, Seattle ranks 10th on the list, having clawed its way back up after toppling to 34th in 2021 in the wake of violent protests against police brutality and racism.
Also ranking in the 50s on the list that takes into account the costs of construction and labor, remote work and the effect of artificial intelligence on the regional markets are San Francisco at 54th and Tacoma at 58th.
The top 10 cities are Nashville, Tennessee; Phoenix; Dallas/Fort Worth; Atlanta; Austin, Texas; San Diego; Boston; San Antonio; and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina.
