Oregon joins 20 states in a lawsuit to stop the Trump administration from accessing key details (SSN#, addresses) on who is receiving Food Stamps that the Federal Government pays for.
The Oregon Attorney General says this is about immigration, yet, illegal migrants are, in most cases, not allowed to sign-up for Food Stamps. There should be no illegal migrant on the program.
The Agriculture Department has stated up front that they wish to use the information to verify eligibility and protect against waste. In Oregon, 19 individuals were charged with orchestrating theft scams linked to baby formula and SNAP benefits, amassing over $500,000. Meanwhile, in Baltimore, store owners were implicated in illegal welfare trafficking, raking in a staggering $16 million. Additionally, a meat market proprietor in Cincinnati faced a conviction for committing $3.4 million in fraud.
