A prominent researcher at Oregon Health & Science University accused by several women of secretly photographing them in a required class received a $46,000 President’s Recognition Award bonus as he left his job. Dr. Daniel Marks, a pediatric endocrinologist who worked 26 years at OHSU as senior associate dean for research and professor of pediatrics, continued doing his federally funded research at OHSU—albeit without electronic devices—after allegations surfaced. He has since resigned from his $467,015-a-year job and works today at Endevica, a pharmaceutical company in Illinois. Previously OHSU paid a legal firm $6.5 million dollars to investigate problems of sexual harassment and polices within OHSU.
The 2023 Legislature approved $500,000 for OHSU to study legalizing prostitution, but the bill spending item was vetoed by Governor Tina Kotek.
