Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Oregonians who tried to enter a Palisades Fire evacuation zone while pretending to be firefighters, a day after they admitted having been granted access to the zone, according to LA Sheriff’s Office.
Dustin Nehl, 31, and Jennifer Nehl, 44, in a firetruck bought at an auction claimed to serve in the Roaring River Fire Department in Oregon, which doesn’t exist. They dressed as firefighters, wore helmets, and carried radios, according to the report. Dustin Nehl has prior convictions in Oregon for criminal mischief and arson.
The pair face charges of impersonating firefighters and entering an evacuation zone. The truck was impounded.
Oregon has a history of out-of-control arson and arsonists.
